A few shots of the sky over Vancouver last might.
Got Chemtrails? Climate change? HAARP? Tune in for more details - it might just turn into a series - The Skies Over Vancouver, or such.
Don't know about chemtrails, or HAARP? Google them for some background.
This was to be a post, but time is not on my side. li'l solipsist has moved to one nap a day, and I have even less time than ever. It's well after midnight, and 5:30 AM comes early, and I still have to eat dinner. I want to write about carbon taxes, and oil prices, and suburbia, and back to the future, and I will...

Glad I'm not the only one that observed those greasy smears in the sky. There were some gargantuan ones that I don't know anyone could miss seeing. It's pretty amazing that people don't notice what's happening right over their heads. I've had a long running argument with someone who assures me that those are all "natural" cloud formations.
I always have a web camera pointed at the sky. When there is movement it takes a snap, and I review them daily....
I wouldn't have known these from clouds. Thanks

Here is a list of all the different cloud types.

I know what you are saying. It's been going on since about 1998 (that's when I first noticed them). They are not natural in any way, and once one starts to do a bit of research...
Cirrus clouds form above 30,000 feet, and the "cirrus" clouds in the photograph were at about 10,000 feet by my estimation.
Normal "con trails" dissipate in minutes, or perhaps a half-hour. Chem trails spread out and form a haze over the whole sky. It is no coincidence that it is always cloudy and cold after a heavy spray day.
Today the conditions are practically identical to Wednesday, and you will notice no trails in the sky.
Most people do not notice because they spend so little time under the sky. I have always been a sky watcher. "They" will say that it is the change in engine technology, more air traffic, and all kinds of other garbage, but that is hooey. The label "conspiracy theorist" frequently comes out too, but greater minds than mine have documented many patterns that are in no way accidental, or natural. There is something going on.
I don't have a link handy, but the military has put out white papers regarding using weather as a weapon, and committed to "owning the weather by 2012". Just imagine if you could cause extreme weather at will...
Another thing that one hears is "why would the government do that?" And why would they allow intellect-killing flouride in the water, mercury in amalgam fillings, mercury in vaccines?
I am not going to try to convince anyone - the planet is grossly over-populated anyhow. Believe what you will.
aw geez. I enjoyed reading your thoughts on real estate, but I'm disappointed that you believe in such things as chemtrails, mercury in vaccines (and how it relates to autism I presume), flouride etc. And yes, I've done lots of reading on all these. Oh well, I'll still be interested in your views on real estate at least.
They spray all the time; satellite photos of the area show it clearly. What keeps Vancouver and Vancouver Island at an advantage are the winds across the island constantly blowing the crap west, and the rain continually washing it out of the sky.
Places like Las Vegas and Arizona have the worst of it. Las Vegas went from 20 overcast days a year to 20 clear blue sky days a year in the past decade. And 10 days a year of rain max to wash the stuff out of the sky.
Great website (when it's up and being maintained.)

Fair enough. This was not meant to be an educational on such things, it was really a cheap post leading up to the future of RE and the city vis-a-vis climate change, carbon taxes, etc.
There is a bunch of junk below to bolster my postulations, but you are welcome to skip over it. I won't be disappointed.
I'm just so bored with RE these days. What will come, will come. I'm just trying to make things interesting.
US Air Force on weather mod.
Wikipedia says - Thiomersal, also spelled thimerosal, is an organomercury preservative used in vaccines since the 1930s
And you do know the effect of mercury on the brain, right?
The Lancet says Neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, attention deficit disorder, mental retardation, and cerebral palsy are common, costly, and can cause lifelong disability. Their causes are mostly unknown. A few industrial chemicals (eg, lead, methylmercury, polychlorinated biphenyls [PCBs], arsenic, and toluene) are recognised causes of neurodevelopmental disorders and subclinical brain dysfunction.
There is a reference in the article to water fluoridation and its detrimental effect on brain development, but I don't have a subscription. Lead does contaminate the fluoride used in water systems though, along with mercury and a few other things. The source is scrubbers on stacks from factories that produce fertilizer. It has never been tested for safety.
There is a lot of evidence from respected sources that back up what I have written.
Fluoride is not added to water in Vancouver, so it is a moot point, but I choose to avoid all such toxins.
The Nazis added fluoride to the water supplies in Aushwitz, etc., because it made the prisoners docile, and inhibited reproduction. Ever heard of Operation Paper Clip?
Henry Kissinger spoke of the need to decrease the global population way back in 1973 on the floor of the UN.
but I'm disappointed that you believe in such things as chemtrails...
Anon 6:55,
{{{Believe}}} in such things? I guess I can stop concerning myself with such foolishness because you've done "lots of reading" and have placed them in the same realm as the Tooth Fairy and other tales that require belief in order to exist.
Good. Now I don't have to trust my lying eyes.
I have to agree with this statement -
I'm just so bored with RE these days.
It is getting so tedious waiting for the curtain call. Watching this thing unwind is like a slow motion autopsy. I've been hanging onto every single development for almost 3 years now, and finally something is starting to crack. And all I can think is...hurry up...hurry up.
I've finally discovered there are bigger things to think about and more fun to be had for the next three years, other than obsessing about global economics and waiting for RE prices to return to earth.
Probably by that time 'real estate' will be dirty words.
"Disappointed" here. Thanks for the links, I did check them out, and I appreciate the thoughtful and non-inflammatory response. I don't want to derail this too much from the original post/blog but here's a couple half-baked points anyway.
Thimerosal was removed from childhood vaccines in 1999. If it had a major link to autism (which I'm not sure you were even claiming actually) it would have been very easy to see a reduction in autism since then. No such thing has been observed, and there is no causal evidence at all, yet the anti-vaccination crowd keeps banging that drum, evidence be damned. Personally I believe the benefit from vaccines outweigh the risks (of which autism doesn't appear to be one) by far.
As for chemtrails, you see a vast government conspiracy of some kind, and I see a meteorological phenomenon which is well understood and explained. I could easily postulate that the idea of chemtrails is itself a conspiracy to distract a motivated population from addressing real (and much more mundane) issues like poverty, healthcare, education etc. Is that idea any less likely?
I will agree that there is plenty of pollution out there, much of which is having an unknown effect, and dealing with it should be a priority. Doing it with pseudo-science and consipiracy theories only undermines the effort though. I'll leave with a couple links of my own, which are especially enjoyable if you are short on time and like to get info through podcasts. They can be found in itunes podcast search as well. Oh, and I am not affiliated with either of them in any way, just a listener.

You know what we did to stop thinking about things that don't matter and "derail" our attention to things that do?
We got a puppy last Friday and I'm telling you - life will never be the same again.
And you're hearing this form a guy who raised three healthy, smart and beautiful children.
To find a true beauty in life we must stop thinking about ourselves all the time. It's easy to fall into this rut.
Solipsist, I'm sure you know what I mean.
Real Estate? Investing? Dare I say...Money? Pfft, who TF cares anymore.
"disappointed" - I was not suggesting that thimeosal was linked to autism, though I believe that a correlation can be found. This article in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons does state that autism rates dropped by 35% from the projected, and some 28% real after thimerosal was reduced in childhood vaccines. There is still the formaldehyde, fungii, and other contaminants to worry about.
Any issue can find evidence to back up either opposing view. I don't do vaccinations, and I did not die from the measles, mumps, chicken pox, etc., that I had as a kid.
As far as vast government conspiracies, you have heard of Leo Strauss, and his Noble Lie, haven't you?
Sometimes the simple answers deserve greater scrutiny.
Bravo Solipsist for bringing to light the important topic of chemtrails. Something no one wants to admit but is right in front of our eyes. It's difficult to acknowledge the amount of control the military has over our world. Most people prefer denial.
