bill's overdue

Do we need some tragi-comic relief?

Well, maybe a trip down memory lane to January 31st of this year, when semi-anonymous bill left the nuggets quoted below, along with some other stuff about how he bought a place by borrowing the down payment from his parents, and it will only go up, and he will never lose his job, and the economy is solid, and other stuff like that. He promised to come back in the summer, and he only has 19 days left to do so.

I've got a crow on the barbie for him, and he is overdue. The crow is pretty well smoked too.

Anyways, enough of my ramblings. I will leave you boys alone to discuss *when* the market will crash, as you all have been for the past few years. Must be like waiting for paint to dry, eh?

PS: Please remember my posts. Really. Please do. My name's Bill. I will check back in the summertime, when things get *ugly*, as you say. Haha. In the meantime, keep posting, keep the ideas flowing, and never forget - there's two sides to every coin.

I have not forgotten your posts Bill. What a sexist! In assuming that we are all "boys" here, you excluded mk-kids, and a lot of other women. Good luck with the girls, you swinging bachelor, you.

Oh, and Bill, the paint is peeling off the facade.

Heads I win, tails you lose.

"W" is for Winner (or wiener).

I was going to nab you on the apostrophe but I think it's clever. Bill's bill's overdue.

Thanks for noticing, jesse. I have been chastened, and took note.

I am read better from the corner of ones eye.

me thinks there are a lot of "bills" out there, all jostling for a lower profile from words that have come back to haunt them....

How's your side of the coin doing there, Bill? Waiting for the market to rebound after that little downward blip? Might be a long excercise in watching paint dry.

The sad thing about comments like these (those on both sides) is that they remind me of the stock forums such as stockhouse.com. There are those with faith and those with reason. Faith needs no reason. Reason doesn't think it needs faith and will at sometime be proven valid. Both fall into frustration when they fail to be proven the victor and there is only one cause of that: Ego.

Oh, how I long for the days when a house was a home, just a home, a necessary utility which provided shelter and you could afford it with a decent down payment or rent it without losing half your wages. There was no talk of prices up/down/sideways/overextending/borrowing from the future/foreclosure/losing shirts/flipping/buy before it's too late/assignments/presale lineups/etc. Just the quality of your lawn you meticulously maintain and the apples hanging heavy on the trees these days, the collection of albums under the old hifi (looks better than a collection of MP3s in a folder), the smoke from the BBQ and talk about saving up to put a pool in (never talk of financing it)... hmmmm... these are what people with "homes" do. Not just people with property.

Well put, for the most part, will.

I do not think though, that it is about ego as far as a lot are concerned - I think that the latter part of what I quoted (from you) is more to the point - a house is just a home.

I have been piqued with the hubris of the bullish, who have bragged about their "winnings", and sneered at renters, and predicted that those who were not in would be "priced out forever". That does not offend my ego so much, as it is just annoying. Prices will return to "fundamentals", and we all know that. We, or at least, I, do not need to be proven right, we are right.

I just get a kick from calling out those encumbered by said hubris.

I too, long for the days when a house was just "a necessary utility that provided shelter". People were far less likely to spend absurd sums on crap structures when that was the case. Now it's all about "investment potential" so paying tons for crap is the order of the day because you're sure some other "investor" will come along and pay you more for it later.

I suspect Bill may have already moved back into his parents basement.

I wonder how all the purchasers who paid street people to line up so they could get in on $600,000 2 bedroom condos with leased parking in the middle of skid row feel now. "Be bold or, or..." For this city, real estate is like crack cocaine. Maybe I'm a bastard, but the withdrawal will be fun to watch.
