red pill, blue pill

I came across this article, and found it to be "very interesting". The comment below is something that I have alluded to here (and elsewhere) before.

'Bush Caused the Financial Market Meltdown'
Washington ignored the lessons of the bank failures of the 1930s

Not a mistake, not incompetence, its the plan.
"It also ignored the lessons of the bank failures of the 1930s"

I would say "It learned from the lessons of the bank failures of the 1930s"

A crisis of this magnitude is not accomplished by ignoring history, but by learning from it. The Plan is to destroy the US dollar, to bankrupt its citizens forcing them to abandon or sell off their property, and to allow those who designed this collapse to buy their property at discount rates.

This is not a mistake, this is not incompetence, this is the Plan.

Have you never noticed that successive governments at all levels do as much as they can to take from the citizenry's pockets only to line those of their friends, and their own? Let us eat cake, or caka...

Governments are quite good at orchestrating all kinds of complex operations, why not one like this global bubble? Politicians tend to be lawyers and business people for the most part. It may seem to have a tin-foil wrapping as an idea, but really, corporations exist for only one reason, and that is ever-increasing profits. Problem is, we live in a closed system. Everything is finite.

Are we being marched back to feudalism? We might not notice as we sit and watch our favourite idol show (right after CTV/Fox news), load up the IPod, yell at the kids playing with their Wii-Wiis to keep it down while we watch food, fuel, housing, and all of our costs directly related to survival sky rocket. Meanwhile, the cost of all of those distractions keeps falling.
The Matrix written by Andy Wachowski & Larry Wachowski

Morpheus: I imagine that right now you're feeling a bit like Alice. Tumbling down the rabbit hole?
Neo: You could say that.
Morpheus: I can see it in your eyes. You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he's expecting to wake up. Ironically, this is not far from the truth. Do you believe in fate, Neo?
Neo: No.
Morpheus: Why not?
Neo: 'Cause I don't like the idea that I'm not in control of my life.
Morpheus: I know exactly what you mean. Let me tell you why you're here. You're here because you know something. What you know, you can't explain. But you feel it. You felt it your entire life. That there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there. Like a splinter in your mind -- driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about?
Neo: The Matrix?
Morpheus: Do you want to know what it is?
(Neo nods his head.)
Morpheus: The Matrix is everywhere, it is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window, or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, or when go to church or when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else, you were born into bondage, born inside a prison that you cannot smell, taste, or touch. A prison for your mind. (long pause, sighs) Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself. This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back.

Bush couldn't orchestrate an organ grinder.

Conspiracy theories abound, but in reality simple incompetence is all it takes to explain most of them.

Occam's razor; is it more likely that people acted stupidly and in blind ignorance of history or that super brainiacs could calculate the exact future consequences of their actions and in a Machiavellian plot they figured out how to re-write the future in their image.

Honestly it sounds a bit too much like a James Bond movie...

I agree about Bush. But, it's not him dreaming things up.

is it more likely that people acted stupidly and in blind ignorance of history

Yes, it is, but with the right people, in the right places, it is easy to direct said ignorance and stupidity.

Just look at our last federal election - with the NDP's Judy Warislavowitskivichikski (or whatever) being used by the RCMP (read Zaccardelli) to throw the election to the Conservatives with the announcement of the IT investigation in the middle of the election. Everyone who is anyone has said that it definitely influenced that election. Throw in an unthinking populace, and Bob's your uncle.

I'm gonna have to make myself one of those tin-foiled hats to block the voices so I can keep buying and consuming and buying and consuming.

I think drachen is right re: Bush, but there is something to your conspiracy theory. I work in a very interesting area of politics and sometimes can't help but believe the government is carrying out a devious plan.

I welcome you to read Naomi Klein's book, The Shock Doctrine. Why?

The idea is this. When a group of people are faced with some short of shock, such as a natural disaster, a monetary collapse, or (insert any kind of scary event here), then these people are more willing to accept new circumstances that they would not have accepted before.

Here is the rub of this idea, the political or financial seniors simply have to wait until a negative event eventually happens, with plans already in place, and immediately put these plans into action.

This shock doctrine was originally developed by Professor Friedman at the University of Chicago in the 60s and 70s. He believed in unrestrained capitalism, free of any and all restrictions by governments. Subsidies, wage controls, and welfare, to name a few, were aberrations to be discarded. Donald Rumsfeld is one of his many adherents.

How is my comment relevant to your blog about real estate prices? As in the 30s, large loans were made available, and then called in. The depression was due to a massive contraction of the money (loans limits in banks for example) supply by the Federal Reserve. More currently, the crisis in the US is leading to massive defaults. Large firms, and the Federal government continue to follow the shock doctrine, and swoop in after this disaster (whether intentionally created or a force of the market is moot - the resultant disaster is acted upon). Large swaths of commercial and residential assets can be taken control of, while the Federal government can initiate greater control (recall the speed which the Patriot Act was presented after sept 11, a huge document giving huge concessions to the Executive in the US).

I urge you to read her book, as it cites many examples; such as the Latin American countries of the 70s, Poland, Russia, the Tsunami and China. There is no need for conspiracy theories, only to recall details we have all read in the papers, and match these to the concept of taking advantage when someone goes down.

Solipsist,

have you seen this?

sorry, don't know how to make the url more convenient.

All of life is a conspiracy.

Though I haven't read the book Steven mentions, I don't know why anyone would find the idea hard to believe.

Opportunism orchestrated or not.

Thanks for that inside view mk- The red pill tastes like candy-gum, doesn't it?.

Thanks for the thoughtful post steven. I have not read Klein's book, because, to be immodest, I might have written it myself.

All of what you wrote is pertinent regarding Friedman, etc.

Problem-Reaction-Solution is how it goes. You don't have to wait for a Big Problem, you create it. For the US, it goes right back to the Spanish-American War. Pearl Harbour, the Gulf of Tonkin, 911.

Bilderberg, Tri-Lateral Commission, and the others. The media is concentrated in the hands of people who are members of these, and other like organisations. They control what people think, how they vote, what they buy. What happened to Glen Clark is a case in point - the media, in cahoots with the "Liberals" implicated him in shady dealings. He resigned (only the innocent seem to do so), and the NDP went down on a bogus smear campaign. It was later brought to light that there had been no improprieties by Clark. Too late though, now we have a government who is privatising BC - to our detriment.

As mentioned in my post, the same kind of thing happened in the last federal election.

"We" are more easily manipulated than "our" fragile egos could ever admit.

What was it that Jack Nicholson's character snarled? "You can't handle the truth". What's worse is that so many don't even care to know.

Thanks seeker. The link is - zeitgeist

The original is here I have not watched the youtube version, so am not sure if it is the same movie.

The Matrix - the movie, was "them" laughing in "our" faces. Few followed the story, or thought of its implications to truth, but were instead be-dazzled by the SFX.

Hi Sol, good topic.

This economic melt-down has been totally planned. No conspiracy theory, just facts. A conspiracy suggests that something is hidden - but when things are being done right in front of your face, it's not a 'conspiracy'. Just because people refuse to look at the obvious, doesn't make it a conspiracy.

A newsletter I read everyday was discussing a similar topic this week:

>> Monday March 31, 2008

Revolution Monday: A Fed Beyond "Money"?

You might want to put a big red "X" on today's date. It may mark the start of the biggest financial revolution in the nation's history, and is a landmark in the planned, or otherwise, transition from 'free markets' to an emerging 'socialism for the rich' which is aimed at shifting the cost of bailing out bankers and speculators to the wallets of America's working class. <<

You don't still believe in those antiquated limited powers of government as the Framers envisioned envisioned in the Constitution, do you? Hand me my crack pipe and another bottle of Jack, please. You just ain't getting it.

Hope that link works. BTW, people that promote the coincidence theory, really need to get serious.

I messed up that link, you have to scroll down to Monday's post.

I have no mortgage, no debt and can pack up and go anywhere, anytime.
I am not scared by impeding layoffs, I don't care for cost of gas, as one of my vehicles does 90 mpg, and the other one runs on human power (how's that for a Matrix reference).
I feel free, because I AM free.
I AM NOT A SLAVE, like mostly everyone else. Every time I think about it, I get "a sudden rush of blood to my head" (to paraphrase one contemporary musician).
I try to convince others to do the same, but the do not want to listen, or understand, or even try...
It's that much easier to be living in a dream world.
We are a nation of nice, peaceful people and as an added bonus we couldn't see the truth if it hit as in the head. We are a perfect nation of slaves.

I'm originally from one of those places where shock doctrine was implemented with great success. I would be beyond stupid to "get fooled again".

Great post Sol. I personally like to free my mind with the locally produced "green pill", but it tastes like skunk.

The link works out fine, and provides some good reading. Sometimes though, I feel as if I am reading the same thing again and again. Some kind of Kafka-writes-Ground Hog Day (the movie).

I have long said that our education system is an inculcation system. The difference is in the etymology; educare being the Latin root of education, means to draw forth - that which is within (more, or less). Inculcare is the Latin root of inculcate, and the rough translaion is to stamp in - as with the heel of a boot.

Our public education system has been diminished so, that the people who lead "us", are uneducated, and verge on imbecilic. 'Knowledge is power, but ignorance is bliss'. So true.

Bah!

Thanks for swinging by reno.

kris - good for you. I am heartened - by the responses - that we are not all doomed. I am in the same boat as you, but for a one-and-a-bit year-old. He is pretty portable and resilient though.

Tony Danza - I enjoy the same green pill (like no one could tell by my ramblings), and it is remarkable that it is mid way between red and blue on the colour spectrum. One can see the truth, while still having the comfort of the dream. Life is grand!

Certainly there is some weird stuff going on out there.

V-chip technology - did you see that family that was implanted with them? Diane Sawyer interviewed.

amero - the North American currency

north american union symbol on North Carolina drivers licenses

v-chip to be imbedded in new passports 2011.
Also, to be in drivers license/national ID card sooner.

V-chip technology

I refuse to carry the Mark of the Beast.

When I get a new Driver's Licence with an RFID chip, I will be destroying the chip with an awl and hammer. The DLs of the last few years have had magnetic strips on them, and the first thing I do is to take a strong rare earth magnet to it to destroy any information on it.

I will be getting a new gold card this summer, and if it has an RFID chip in it, I will be taking the hammer and awl to it forthwith.

I will be writing of the Mark of the Beast, RFID chips, SIN, etc., in the coming days.

With all the hype about our market warming up for the big bust, I thought I'd check out this blog with the cool name.

All that gobletygook about v-chip implants, devious government conspiracies, spouting latin with desperate links to Kafka and vague philosophies, made me wonder if I was in the wrong store or maybe the wrong planet, rather than just a refuge for twisted intalects.

Unfortunately, my latin is limited to "book'em Dano" and I just wanna back up my shiny 4 wheeler muscle buggy to load up on RE after a 50% price drop.

So, is our market gonna crash or WTF?

solipsist said...

So, is our market gonna crash or WTF?

Naw, it's up-up-up!

We have submitted to the implants, and are no longer in control of our minds.

I just over-bid on a $700k trailer on Powell St., but the cops towed it away.

solipsist said...

kris - I forgot to ask what you drive that gets 90 MPG. The best I ever did was with a 1979 diesel Rabbit, which gave me 63 MPG.
